AIDS IN THE WORKPLACE (part 5)

HERE we come to part five, and yet none came forward to challenge the contents. Instead, readers offer to use this page for AIDS related nutrition. Oh yes! That would be great at the end of part ten obviously, nutrition and supplements would have eventually been tackled, but not from moneymaking point of view: Grace Phiri reaches out.

NUTRITION & SUPPLEMENTS

Ways of looking at Nutrition and Supplements can be extremely unreachable and too expensive to get. And yet a must-have on the diet for a person living with Aids. It’s vital importance to maintain a health living style as well as a health eating habits.

What is nutrition?

The answer can be anything in the nutritional group. However, people living with Aids (PWA) needs more than ordinary nutrition. Green vegetables plays the biggest role in supplying nutrition. Sweet-potatoe leaves and Spinach are highly recommended for boosting immune system. Cassava and Pumpkin leaves can be good nutritional suppliers. All other vegetables are also recommended.

SPICES

Spices are not recommended for PWAs due to the fact that at the immune system is severely suppressed. However, some spices are also medicinal and can help to heal some opportunist diseases. Garlic, Ginger, Lemon, Rosemary, Sparsely Cinnamon and many others are actually prescribed as a diet.

FISH

Fish comes in handy because of the high calcium they contain. Fish of any type and kind is highly recommended, at least five times a week. Eat chicken once or twice a week. Like we mentioned in our previous edition, HIV has numbers. Some gives skin disease and that’s where the chicken must be reduced intake. Eat meat once or twice a week. Most Tuberculosis (TB) and Gout sufferers should reduce intake in meat.

SUPPLEMENTS

And so what are supplements? It’s any edible food or pill that can alleviate nutrition. Where there’s completely no green vegetables a Pwa should take prescribed supplements by dietician or doctor. They are in the form of vitamins. All vitamins are classified as supplements. In South Africa, government hospitals and clinics still give them free on a monthly basis.
